It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of Michael “Mike” Lewis Prahl, Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, at the age of 70.

Mike was born Nov. 17, 1953, to Merlyn and Joyce Prahl.

He attended St. Peter’s Lutheran School and graduated from Weyauwega High School. He then went on to UW-River Falls and graduated in 1976.

Mike married Laurie Bartel, March 26, 1977, and they were blessed with 47 years together. He was incredibly proud of his family, and cherished every moment with his children and grandchildren, whether it was fishing, hunting, sports or attending all of their activities.

He dedicated 46 years, working for Marshfield Co-op, Cornell Farmers Union and River Country Co-op.

Mike was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, for 42 years, where he served as a council member, a visiting elder and usher.

He is survived by his wife – Laurie; sons – Jason (Nikki) Prahl and Jeremy (Becca) Prahl; grandchildren – Ava, Brennan, Isabelle and Nolan; brothers – Terry (Jean) Prahl and Bob (Liane) Prahl, and their children – Eric (Chantal), Lili, Garrett (Samantha) and Allison (David); father-in-law – Harold Bartel (Pat); sister-in-law – Gina (Dave) Trzebiatowski; and nephew – Brandon (Heidi) and children – Andi and Maggie.

He was preceded in death by his parents – Merlyn and Joyce Prahl; sister – Kathleen; and mother-in-law – Virginia Bartel.

Mike’s spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of those he touched. May he rest in peace, knowing his love will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those he leaves behind.

Thank you to the staff at Cornell Health Services and St. Croix Hospice, for their compassion and kindness.

Visitation will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cornell, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 13. Services will be at 11:30 a.m., with Pastor Chris Christenson officiating and a lunch to follow at the church.
