Frank Adolph Kosar, 85, passed away peacefully, Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at his home in Cornell.

Frank was born Aug. 28, 1938, to Adolph and Martha (Rossow) Kosar, in the Township of Colburn. He was the second of 11 children.

He grew up on the family farm and attended East Riverside Grade School. His grandpa, Albert Kosar, taught him how to drive trucks, and he began hauling milk at the age of 15.

Frank later moved to Belvidere, Ill., where he drove a semi-truck for Carnation Farms.

He married Betty Kaehler, New Year’s Eve, in 1959, in Belvidere, Ill. Frank and Betty would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year.

His passion for trucks and hard work inspired him to pursue his own trucking business in Dallas, Texas – Rite-Way Trucking, Inc. Later, he purchased farmland in the Cornell area, where he spent several months of the year, farming and hunting.

Frank was active with the Western Bohemian Fraternal Association Historical Marker Lodge No. 141, for which his great-grandfather, Frank Kosar, was the founding member and first president of the hall. Frank was very proud of his Bohemian heritage.

He is survived by his wife – Betty, Grand Prairie, Texas; sons – Robert, Canton, Texas, David, Irving, Texas, and Timothy (Amanda), Greenwood; daughter – Julie (James) Moore, Barry, Texas; stepdaughter – Debby Sigafus, Adams; grandchildren – Christopher, James, Katelyn, Cameron, Jason, Kristi, Robert, David, Bethany, Lauren and Hannah; step-grandchildren – Natasha and Natalie; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters – Margaret Kosar, St. Paul, Minn., Loretta Heian, Chippewa Falls, Judy (Roger) Kubera, Colfax, and Joyce Freeman, Stanley; and 24 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather – John Matera; grandson – Kenneth Kosar; daughterin- law – Tina Kosar; brother – Kenneth Kosar; sisters – Betty Kosar, Ruth Berchem, Dorothy Voit, Jane Telisczak and Shirley Oyama.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life for Frank, Sunday, Sept. 1, from 5-7 p.m., at Sweeney’s Y Go By Bar in Cornell. To honor Frank’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.

An increment burial will be held at 9 a.m., Monday, Sept. 2, at the Bohemian National Cemetery in Cadott.
