Michael “Mike” D. Hydo
Michael “Mike” D. Hydo, 70, was born June 22, 1954, and died July 22, 2024, in Marshfield Hospital.
Born in Gary, Ind., the son of Andrew P. Hydo and Charlotte Hydo, Mike grew up in Crown Point, Ind., until he was a freshman in high school, when he moved to Holcombe.
He graduated in 1972, from Holcombe High School. After graduation, he went to South Carolina, to attend heavy equipment school.
Upon completion of his schooling, he returned to Holcombe, where he worked as a head sawyer at Walters Brothers Lumber Manufacturing, Inc., until he retired in 2016.
Mike married Esther Swanson and had four children. They later divorced and he married Diane Luce DuPont.
He was a gifted wood and metal worker, repairer of almost anything mechanical, gardener and canner of most of his food. He raised most of the meat he ate. Mike was an expert cook (the best potato salad ever) and sausage maker.
Mike is loved dearly and will be missed by all his family.
He is survived by his wife – Diane; two sons – Chad Hydo and Randy (Penny) Hydo; two daughters – Darla Hydo and Elana Hydo; two stepsons – Kevin DuPont and Tom DuPont; one sister – Sharon Hydo; brother-in-law – Keith Hon; a half-brother – Richard (Lois) Seeley; a halfsister – Beverly (Gary) Tarbox; two wonderful grandsons – Ethan and Nolan Hydo; one wonderful granddaughter – Lakota Berman; and two stepgrandchildren – Peyton and Jesse DuPont.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister – Barb Hon; stepson – Tim DuPont; and great-granddaughter – Sienna.
Mike will be cremated by Chippewa Valley Cremation Services and his ashes will be spread on the farm he lived on since 1968, and cherished so much. There are no services planned at the present.
