Janice “Jan” L. Currie

Janice “Jan” L. Currie, 90, Cornell, passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, surrounded by family.

Janice was born Oct 25, 1933, the daughter of the late Ira and Mamie Christie.

She married Robert Currie, Sept. 14, 1949, and together, they raised two daughters, Pamela and Deborah.

Janice was a hardworking woman; she was the owner/ operator of Silhouette Cut & Curl Beauty Salon, and several rental properties. In addition to serving in the kitchen, she cleaned Holy Cross Catholic Church and acted as a housekeeper for many of the former priests.

Jan and Bob were also foster parents to many Chippewa County youth, from 1986-2007.

She is survived by daughters – Pamela (W. Roger) Herrell and Deborah McMenamin; grandchildren – Rhonda (Robin) Thon, Andrea (Robert) Hakes, Wendy (Kevin) LaRock, Merisa (Seumus) Brindle and Justin (Zua) McMenamin; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-greatgrandchildren; sister – Cheryl; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by Robert, her loving husband of 62 years; her parents; brother – David; and her in-laws.

A private family service will be held.
