Douglas “Doug” Dean Greene Jr.
Douglas “Doug” Dean Greene Jr., 55, River Falls, passed away suddenly and way too soon, Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023, because of an ATV accident.
Doug was born in Chippewa Falls, Nov. 12, 1967, to Douglas and Lorretta (Glenz) Greene.
He grew up in Cadott, and graduated from Cadott High School.
Doug married Gail Steiger, June 20, 1987. They had two sons, Douglas Edwin and Joshua Adam, and later divorced. Doug married April Huppert, Dec. 31, 2000. They have since then resided in River Falls.
He was a heavy equipment operator and welder. He was a union steward for many years. Doug worked for Meyer Utility Structures, until a worksite accident ended his career there.
Doug happily supported April in their latest adventure, Goats On The Go River Falls. Doug was the primary care giver for, and instrumental in, establishing the Greene Ravine Goats herd. Despite his claims of being “just a volunteer,” he was becoming known as “The Goat Guy” locally, which delighted him greatly.
He was a personable guy, who enjoyed talking with everyone and could fix just about anything. He loved his friends, family, goats and pets (especially his dog, Penny) dearly, and was always willing to help with whatever was needed.
Doug took great pleasure in training and teaching others how to accomplish a task. His time, tools and shop were available to anyone who may need them. Often, stating with a smile, “You’ll do the work, I’ll just supervise.”
In his free time, Doug loved to hunt, fish and cheer for the Brewers, Packers and Badgers.
