Geraldine “Gerry” L. Evjen, 93, Cadott, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie.

Geraldine was born Aug. 15, 1930, to Lawrence and Isabelle (Fritsch) Peterson, in Stanley.

She grew up and was raised in Cadott.

Geraldine Peterson was united in marriage to Edsel Evjen July 12, 1947.

Following marriage, Gerry lived in the Town of Sigel, where she worked at the Fin and Feather Shoe Factory, and later, she worked at the Northern Wisconsin Center in the kitchen and laundry departments until her retirement.

Gerry enjoyed camping, canning, fishing, spending time at the cabin, and being with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband – Edsel A. Evjen; sons – Steven Evjen and Tim (Joleen) Evjen; grandchildren – Crystal (Jason) Thom, Gwen (Louis) Hoople, Craig (Amy) Evjen, Carissa (Tim) Hoyt and Rachel (Jon) Booth; greatgrandchildren – Kersten Anderson, Kaeden Thom, Louis Ray Hoople III, Elizabeth Mickelson, Tryston Evjen, Kyah and Zak Hoyt, and Peyton and Hadley Booth; great-greatgrandsons – Kiylyn Thom and Andruw Mickelson; a brother – Harold “Pete” (Verlene) Peterson, Dodgeville; a sister – Rainy (Dennis) Mewhorter, of California; and also by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents – Lawrence and Isabelle Peterson; sisters – Florence “Happy” Ryan, Eleanor Evjen and Irene Mousel; brothers – Bernard Peterson, Richard Peterson and Duane Peterson; granddaughter – Billie-Jo Evjen-Mickelson; and a great-grandson – Andruw Paul Mickelson.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 5, at Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott, with the Rev. George Olinske officiating. Interment will be in the Brooklawn Cemetery in Cadott.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m., until the time of service, at 11 a.m., Thursday morning, at the funeral home.
