Janet Ida (Seidlitz) Black
Janet Ida (Seidlitz) Black, 87, Cornell, passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Janet was born in the Township of Cleveland, Dec. 5, 1935, to Walter and Edith (Stevens) Seidlitz.
She grew up in the Township of Eagle Point, and attended and graduated from Cornell High School in 1954. After graduation, she moved to Minneapolis, Minn., where she worked at a bank for a short time, before moving back to Wisconsin.
Janet married Lloyd Black, Feb. 5, 1955, at Trinity Lutheran Church, in the Township of Cleveland. Together, they had seven children.
She was a homemaker and cook, she worked at several different places as a cook, but enjoyed her time at N-Joy in Cornell, the most. She enjoyed traveling with Lloyd, sewing, camping, going to garage sales, thrift stores and she loved animals, she also enjoyed spending time with her sister, Norma, and her close family members.
Janet was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cornell; her faith was strong and very important to her.
She is survived by her five children – Jerry (Grace) Black, Randy Black (Theresa), Laurie (Pat) Krueger, Wally (Tammy) Black and Norma (Antonio) Johnson; 29 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren, four greatgreat- grandchildren, plus two more on the way; her sister – Norma (Carol) Christiansen; brothers – Larry (Diane) Seidlitz, John (Roxi) Seidlitz and Tim (Ramona) Seidlitz; brother-in-law – Darryl Matott; sisters-in-law – Janet Seidlitz, Evelyn Seidlitz, Sharron (Harry) Miller, Bonnie Delaney, Betty Helland and Dora White; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband – Lloyd; her parents – Walter and Edith Seidlitz; two sons – Ricky and Tom Black; two granddaughters – Julianne Bryan and Victoria Bohringer; brothers and sisters – Sonny, Lyle, Ray, Chuck, Delta, Nona and Beatrice; and other family members.
Services were held Sunday, Sept. 24, at 4 p.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cornell, with Pastor Chris Christenson officiating. Visitation began at 2 p.m., going until the service started at 4 p.m.
