With heavy hearts, we come together to mourn the loss of Robert “Rob” Allan Spletter, who peacefully passed away Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2023, at his home, in Winter Garden, Fla. He was surrounded by an outpouring of love and tenderness from his family, following a brief battle with cancer.

Rob was born to the late Milton L. Spletter and the late Virginia M. (Anderson) Spletter, July 21, 1962, in Hinsdale, Ill.

His early years were spent in Wheaton, Ill., before the family relocated to Cornell. There, Rob embraced outdoor pursuits, such as water skiing, boating, skiing, snowmobiling and hunting with his brother, Chuck, and their dogs.

Rob graduated from Cornell High School in 1980, and later earned his B.S.M.E. from the University of Wisconsin, Stout. He continued his studies at the University of Bern in Switzerland, obtaining an MS in international finance, and later completed his executive MBA at the University of Rochester, N.Y.

His professional journey led him to the Briggs & Stratton Corporation, where he made significant contributions during his tenure, including living overseas for 15 years, in various roles of director of service and distribution-Europe; and director of sales and marketing-Europe; managing director- Southeast Asia; and general manager-Mexico.

Upon retiring in 2019, he ventured into a new chapter, as president of Spletter Global Solutions, an independent management consultant.

During his time in Switzerland, Rob met his lovely wife, Magdalena, and together, they welcomed their cherished son, Eric, in 2005.

Rob’s career took him around the world, allowing him to explore diverse cultures and landscapes with his family. In 2019, they settled in Winter Garden, Fla., after residing in the Milwaukee area.

His passion for water skiing was a shared bond between him and his son, Eric, leading them to compete in domestic and international competitions. He also found solace in his second home in Big Sky, Mont., relishing outdoor adventures with friends and family through camping, hiking, biking, skiing and snowmobiling.

Rob’s resilient spirit remained unyielding, embodying his refusal to give up, even in the face of adversity.

His legacy as an ambitious, conscientious, determined, hardworking, generous and adventurous soul, lives on. He leaves behind a tapestry of memories, where he shared his love for the outdoors and sports, with family and friends, passing down his passion through teaching activities to younger generations.

He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years – Magdalena; beloved son – Eric; faithful canine companion – Jasmine; dear brother – Charles “Chuck” (Pippi) Spletter, Cornell; cherished nephew – Cortland (Hannah) Spletter, Cornell; beloved grandniece – Aliza Spletter, Cornell; cherished aunts – Vivian (Glen) Blum, Willowbrook, Ill., and Dorothy Yackley, Lisle, Ill.; and numerous cousins across the U.S.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Advent Health Hospice, for their remarkable care and compassion.

Though Rob’s time was cut short, his life was lived fully and adventurously. May his memory forever shine brightly in our hearts.
