Wayne Francis McMenamin

Wayne Francis McMenamin, 93, Holcombe, passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, June 6, 2023.

Wayne was born Jan. 28, 1930, in Cornell, to Leo and Grace (Wilhelm) McMenamin.

He graduated from Cornell High School in 1948.

Wayne served in the U.S.

Army from 1951-53, serving a one-year tour, in Korea.

He married Alice Pace Sept. 24, 1952, at Holy Cross Parish in Cornell. He was a lifelong Holy Cross parishioner.

Wayne was a rural mail carrier in Cornell. He and Alice raised six children at their happy home on Sixth Street. After retirement, they moved to Holcombe, and were snowbirds in the winter.

He is survived by his six children – Mary (Jack) Wolf, Don (Sherry) McMenamin, Lee (Ramona) McMenamin, Patricia (Tom) Clark, Susan (Jerome) Joswiak and Ann McMenamin; and all because two people fell in love, there are 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife – Alice; parents – Leo and Grace McMenamin; brother – Raymond McMenamin; sister – Mildred Yohnk; in-laws – Lawrence and Florence Pace, Genevieve McMenamin and Roland Yohnk; and daughter-in-law – Debbie (Pett) McMenamin.

“We had a fabulous life.” ~ Wayne Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 15, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cornell, with Father Eric Linzmaier officiating. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. that morning, until the time of service, at the church.

Military honors will be provided by the Cornell American Legion. Inurnment will be at the Cornell Cemetery.
