David “Dave” R. Albers Sr., 78, Fond du Lac, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022, at Fond du Lac Lutheran Home.

David was born March 10, 1944, in Milwaukee, the son of Francis and Blanche Albers.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Army as a paratrooper, welder and mechanic.

He was a metallurgist at Centrifugal in Waukesha. After he retired, he moved to Cornell, where he worked for Menards.

David enjoyed doing body work and painting on cars, and going to car shows. He especially loved going to the Jefferson Auto Swap Meet and Car Show.

He was an active member in VFW Post 9464 Cornell and American Legion Post 353, Boy Scouts of America and Camaraderie Club.

David loved his family and always enjoyed spending time with his children and siblings, and was a proud father and grandfather.

He is survived by his children – Glennie “Jane” Lopez, Sheboygan, David (Amy) Albers II, Cornell, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Albers, Fond du Lac, and Robert (Tracy) Albers, Oak Creek; eight grandchildren – Brian, Crystal, Nicholas, Tristen, Vincent, Addyson, Chevy and Remington; five great-grandchildren; his siblings – Ronald (Jean) Albers, Muskego, Joan Hall, New Berlin, Susan (Tom) Burger, Burlington, and Michael (Jean) Albers, Colgate.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and former wife – Edith Albers.

The family will greet friends in a visitation from noon to 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 26, at Holy Family Parish in Fond du Lac.

A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 26, at Holy Family Parish.

Military services will be conducted after the memorial service, by Trier-Puddy American Legion Post 75. Cremation has already taken place.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Boy Scouts Chippewa Valley Council or the American Legion.
