Leonard A. Pieper, 83, passed away Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, surrounded by family.

Leonard was born April 7, 1938, in Arcadia, to Alfred and Mary (Patzner) Pieper.

They moved to Dover, Minn., in 1942, where he grew up on the family farm. He graduated from St. Charles High School.

Leonard married Rose Kieffer April 7, 1959. They farmed south of Dover, before moving to Lewiston, where he worked for Lewiston Auto Co., Lewiston Hardware and was a volunteer fireman.

He started his own business, Len’s Motor Service, in the Lewiston and Utica area. He worked for H.F. Radandt Inc., out of Eau Claire, in construction as master mechanic.

Leonard and Rose moved to Cornell, in 1974, where they farmed and Leonard worked as a self-employed mechanic.

He is survived by his wife – Rose, of 62 years; his children – Shirley (Joe) Randall, Theresa (Richard) Sedlacek, Catherine (Rik) Greenseth, Donna (Jim) Woodcock, Edwin Pieper (fiancé Missy), William (Stephanie) Pieper, Nicholas (Tami) Pieper, Anne (Eric) Vanden Heuvel, Margaret (Todd) Schwartz, Regina (Terry) Blodgett, Veronica (Nathan) Romanowski and Karen (Justin) Simington; 39 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; his siblings – Jane (Duane) Hinrichs, Joni (Don) Yankowiak, Marjorie Asleson, Janice (Jim) Halfman, Donald Pieper, Gerald (Mary) Pieper, Alfred Jr. (Judy) Pieper, Mary Pieper, Thomas (Joan) Pieper, Susan (Lyman) Kurth, Kevin (Jaime) Pieper and Judith (Dennis) Van Keulen; and many nieces; nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter; his parents; sisters – Genevieve in infancy and Frances; brotherin- law – Archie Asleson; and three nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Dec. 2, at 11:30 a.m., at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cornell. The celebrant will be Leonard’s grandson, the Rev. Daniel J. Sedlacek, with the Rev. Eric G. Linzmaier concelebrating.

Burial will follow at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Holcombe.

Recitation of the rosary will be at 9 a.m., Thursday morning, with visitation following from 9:30-11:30 a.m., at Holy Cross Catholic Church.
