Rose “Rosie” E, Schilling, 73, Edgar, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Monday, March 31,2025.
She was born September 24,1951. in New Auburn, daughter of the late Anton & Alice (Milliren) Swanson. On September 15, 1973, she married Kenneth 'Ken” Schilling at Christ Lutheran Church. Marshfield.
For many years, Rosie was a librarian at the Edgar Public Library and worked as an accountant for several businesses in the Wausau area. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Edgar, where she was a member o the Women’s Club and taught Sunday School for many years. She loved spending time with family, especially the grandkids, Rosie was also heavily involved with the Pro-Life Wisconsin Organization.
Among her favorite pastimes, she loved flower gardening, oil painting (Rosemaling) and quilting, and made many quilts for friends and family. She also enjoyed teaching Rosemaling classes at NTC. She was a longtime member of the Wisconsin Valley Art Association.
She passed many lessons down to her children and grandchildren. These lessons ccntcrcd around persevering through life's challenges and letting God’s love for you overflow into the world. May the love she spread into this world continue to spread in her honor and memory.
Survivors include her husband, Ken; two sons: Jason Schilling. Weston and Brian (Leslie) Schilling, Henderson, Nev.; four grandchildren: Andrew (Maire) Morris & Aidan, Aubrey and Celia Schilling; three siblings: Rachel Harmon, Sam (Karla) Swanson and John (Sandra) Swanson; seven foster siblings: Diane Bod?,in, Kevin Kudingo, Robert Jr. (Pam) Kudingo, Elizabeth (Joe) Hess, Patrick (Barb) Gennett. Denise (Dave) Weber and Faith (Larry) Zarnke; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Anton & Alice Swanson; her in-laws, Clarence & LaVilla Schilling; her foster parents, Robert & Pat Kudingo and Roger & Marianna Gennett; two siblings: Bob Swanson and Avis Swanson; and three foster siblings: Yvonne (Greg) Hawk, Helen Kudingo and Sarah Gennett.
A funeral scrvice will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Hope Lutheran Church, 224556 Highway 97, Edgar. Rev, Andrew Cave will preside. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church, Memorial donations may be directed to Hope Lutheran Church in Rosie’s memory.
