Betty Strothenke
Betty “Betsy” Ellen Strothenke, age 97, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, under the tender care of St. Croix Hospice. Maurina-Schilling Funeral Homes is entrusted with the arrangements.
A memorial service was held at noon on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Pastor Don Everhard presided. Friends and family were welcomed from 11 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.
Born on July 11,1927, at Evangelical Hospital in Chicago, Betty was the daughter of William and Nell (Cousar) Robertson. On May 21, 1960, she married the love of her life, Paul James Strothenke, at the Roosevelt Drive Presbyterian Church in Milwaukee. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter and cherished memories.
She had many hobbies that brought her joy, including quilting, knitting, bowling and cross-country skiing. Betty’s father was a professional golfer, and she developed a special fondness for the game of golf, which she enjoyed throughout her life. Up until the very end, Betsy stayed active and could often be found checking out the next best book to read, biking around the block, visiting with friends, enjoying her flowers or cheering on her precious grandson from the sidelines as he played basketball and competed in bowling. Whether on the course, the lanes or the trails, Betty embraced life with enthusiasm and a spirit of fun. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul; as well as her parents, William and Nell; daughter, Linda Vogel and son-inlaw, Jim Vogel.
Betty is survived by grandson, Andrew Vogel, whom she loved dearly and many dear family and friends.
