Donald “Don” Jerome Burich
Donald “Don” Jerome Burich was born March 21, 1936, at their farm home, east of Cadott. He was the son of Emil and Doris (Harrel) Burich, and attended school in Cadott.
Growing up on the farm, alongside his two brothers, Eugene and Kenneth, and one sister, Darlene, he developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for family.
He married Donna Mae Zimmerman, of Stanley, in 1956. Together, they created a loving home in Cadott, where they raised three wonderful children – Rick, Judy and Diane.
Don worked at Arthur Dairy, for 12 years, starting as a milk truck driver and later, making cheese. He continued his journey with the Chippewa County Highway Department for over 30 years, showcasing his resilience through treacherous storms, sharing tales, with a laugh that reflected his strength and determination. A job well done was a source of great pride for Don.
He found joy in hunting and fishing, displaying remarkable skill in fixing power tools. Many contractors relied on his expertise, as he was adept at diagnosing issues and crafting solutions.
Don found new love, when he met Linda Medenwald at a polka dance and they married, June 21, 2004. During Catholic marriage classes, they humorously shared insights from their combined 88 years of experience, showcasing their deep bond. Together, they danced their way through life with joy and love.
A master of dice games, Don fiercely played and competed, with Linda and his friends, showcasing his playful spirit. He was a dedicated fly tier, generously sharing his creations with friends and an expert hunter, who cherished moments watching deer from his kitchen table.
Don embraced life with enthusiasm – traveling, spending winters in Texas, meeting new people, experiencing new things and above all, loving Linda and all of his family. A man of unwavering faith, he attended church every Sunday.
He is survived by his wife – Linda (Medenwald); son – Rick and Teresa (Peloquin); daughters – Judy and Tom (Kohls), and Diane and Greg (Samplawski); grandchildren – Stacy, Jesse, Shannon and Chris; great-grandchildren – William, Tyler, Carter, Abby, Caitlin, Emily and Chelsea; and Linda’s children – Jerry and Lisa (Valente), John and Ingrid (Peterson), Randy Medenwald and Sue Holter, along with their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents – Emil and Doris; brothers – Eugene and Kenneth; sister – Darlene; wife – Donna; granddaughter – Amber Reynolds; and brother-inlaw – Raymond Zimmerman.
Services are at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Amery, Saturday, April 12. Visitation is at 9:30 a.m., with the service at 10:30 a.m., followed by a lunch.
Burial is at the Cadott Catholic Cemetery, at 2 p.m. 166837
