Leona Tieman
Leona D. Tieman, 95, Loyal, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center in Owen, where she resided for the past five years. Per her wishes, there will be a private family graveside service held at a later date.
Leona Dorothy Hegenbarth was born on June 6,1929, in Portland, to Edwin H. and Hattie C. (Thompson) Hegenbarth. In 1930, her family moved to a farm south of Greenwood, where she was raised and received her education, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1946. While in high school, Leona worked at the Greenwood Telephone Company for 10 cents an hour. After high school, she was united in marriage to Ronald Tieman on May 12, 1948, in Greenwood. Leona later worked for Badger State Credit, Farmers & Merchants Bank, and Sautebin Law Office, as well as working with her husband for Tieman Realty, until they sold it to their grandson, Dean, in 1996.
She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the T.L.C.W. while living in Loyal. She served as financial secretary, sang in the choir, and helped with many other church functions. Leona had many interests, but especially enjoyed knitting, sewing, canning, and bowling. She also loved to clean her house and mow her lawn. Leona was a very independent woman.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Elmer) Finck, of Greenwood; two grandsons: Dean (Becki) Bogdonovich of Greenwood, and Darin (Kim) Bogdonovich of Loyal; two step-granddaughters: Renee Finck and Stephanie Korish (Steve Bartley); 13 great-grand children; 15 great-great-grandchildren; her niece and goddaughter, Carmen Kruschek; four sisters-in-law: Arlene Martinson of Wautoma, Joyce Washburn of Carmel, Ind., Alice Kennedy of Loyal, and Linda Disch of Lake Mills; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ron, on June 12,1995; her father- and mother-in-law, Charles and Helen Tieman; four sisters: Hazel Hagenbarth, Esther Nielsen, Minerva Sorenson, and Catherine Karlen; her stepsister, Alice Hansen; several sisters- and brothers-in-law; and her special companion, Tobee.
Her family would like to give a special thank you to everyone who has written notes, sent cards or kept in contact with her. Thank you to her caregivers at Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center and Heartland Hospice for your help and support given to us in the past years. You have helped us more than you realize.
