Robert DeCaire

Robert Bryce “Bob” DeCaire, age 91, of Owen, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, in his home under the tender care of Hope Hospice.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at noon at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. Inurnment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery. Father Stanislaus Michael Antony will preside. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is entrusted with the arrangements.

Robert was born on December 14, 1933, the son of Alvin and Aloween (Belhumeur) DeCaire in Chassell, Mich. He was united in marriage to Carol Steffes on June 25, 1955, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. She preceded him in death on June 13, 2022. Robert worked at a number of manufacturing companies and retired from Allis Chalmers in Milwaukee as a Machinist after 30 years.

Robert was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman in his heyday and enjoyed the outdoors. Robert especially loved and cherished being with family.

Robert is survived by three children: Deborah (Robert) Kaczmarek of Wind Lake, Robert (Amy) DeCaire, Jr. of Medford and Rodney (Kathy) DeCaire of Owen; ten grandchildren: Nicholas (Tammie) Gerard, Christopher (Anna) Gerard, Amber (Ryan) Morris, Kyle Kaczmarek, Megan (Paul Luce) Kaczmarek, Brandon DeCaire, Karisa (Andrew) Vu, Joel DeCaire (MacKenzie), Amanda (Ben) Denk and Stephanie (Shane) Zoradka; and 12 great-grandchildren: Natalie, Tyler, Nolan, Hunter and Parker GeraConnor, Ashton and Vittoria Morris, Rylan, Alayna and Theodore Vu and Aubrianna Denk. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol; five grandchildren: Morgan and Gage Gerard, Dylan DeCaire, Adam and Aaron DeCaire; and three sisters: Phyllis Durocher, Joan Fisher and Patricia Matonavich.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Hope Hospice or Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
