Shirley Mae Lodahl Shirley Mae Lodahl

It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of Shirley Mae Lodahl, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who left us peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, Saturday, Feb. 8, at Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire.

Born in Cornell, Dec. 5, 1944, Shirley was the daughter of Howard and Violet Jones.

She grew up in Holcombe. Shirley married the love of her life, Bernard M. Lodahl, May 5, 1964. They resided in Boyd, and shared 60 plus wonderful years of marriage.

She had an unwavering love for her family. As a devoted mother, she raised four children, and her warmth and nurturing spirit extended to her seven cherished grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Shirley was extremely proud of each one of them and loved nothing more than when the family was together for any occasion.

In addition to her love for family, Shirley enjoyed reading, bird watching and doing crafts (especially with her grandchildren).

Her “spunkiness” kept everyone on their toes and made her a true joy to spend time with. One thing you can be sure of, is that Shirley always gave her time and energy to the people she cared about.

She is survived by her loving husband – Bernie Lodahl; her children – Douglas, Craig (Julie) and James (Penny); grandchildren – Trenton Lodahl, Benjamin (Hannah) Lodahl, Shelby (Kody) Dupee, Aydan Lodahl, Bryce Lodahl, Victoria (Anton) Gumina and Danielle Mae (Zach Hershey) Lodahl; great-grandchildren – Lucas, Cal and Lola; siblings – Ruth Ann Rucks, Roy Jones, Larry (Fatz) Jones, Bruce Jones, Sandy Johnson, Tom Jones and Donald Jones.

She was preceded in death by her daughter – Tammy; her parents – Howard and Violet; and siblings – Gerald (Doc) Jones, Gary Jones and Mary Langel.

A celebration of her life will be held at Borton-Leiser Funeral Home in Cornell, Saturday, Feb. 15. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services to follow at 1 p.m., with a gathering at Colburn Town Hall (Huron), after laying her to rest at the Yellow River Cemetery.

A special thank you to all family, friends, neighbors and the staff at Mayo Health Systems, for the support and care of our mom.
