Mary Ann Schwalbach
Mary Ann (Hickman) Schwalbach, 91, of Elderon, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, in her home under the tender care of Compassus Hospice.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. Father Keith Kitzhaber will preside. Interment will take place in the spring at Abbotsford Public Cemetery. Please join the family for visitation at the church beginning at 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.
Mary Ann was born on July 27, 1933, in Abbotsford, to John and Olivia Pinter. She was united in marriage to Alva R. Hickman, Jr. on August 31,1957. He passed away unexpectedly on November 24,1985. On May 13,1989, she married James D. Schwalbach, Sr. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2017, due to a tractor accident.
Mary Ann graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1952. After graduation, she went to work at Employers Mutual Insurance in Wausau. She met her husband in Wausau, had her children and lived there until 1965, when they moved to Sheboygan. While there they both worked at the Armour Leather Company. They returned to Wausau three years later. She then got a job at a medical supply company that was sold multiple times. She met her second husband there. Mary Ann took an early retirement from Bard Home Health when the company moved out of the area.
In her younger years, Mary Ann enjoyed roller skating, dancing, arranging silk flowers for weddings, camping and RVing with her family.
