Lawrence “Larry” Dix Jr.
Lawrence “Larry” William Dix Jr., 86, Chili, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, with his loving family by his side.
Larry was born on March 27, 1938, in Wisconsin Rapids, to Lawrence Sr. and Helen (Ott) Dix. He attended the rural Cozy Corner Grade School and graduated from Granton High School. He then was employed with Herbert Puscheck of Chili constructing Butler Buildings. On Oct. 19, 1957, he was united in marriage to Constance “Connie” Lee at the Evangelical United Brethen Church of Chili. They farmed in the Granton/Chili area for 36 years, eventually selling their farm to son Thomas and Brenda in 1993. Larry and Connie moved to their present home. Larry hauled bulk milk for Lynn Dairy, retiring in 2000. Throughout his life, Larry served as a director for Equity Livestock Cooperative of Stratford, was an ASCS committee member, supervisor for the Town of Fremont, and a 10-year volunteer fireman for the Town of Fremont. Larry enjoyed gardening, traveling, bowling, and baseball in the 1950s and early ‘60s. Sunday afternoons you could find him on the mound with the Chili baseball team in the Yellow River League. Larry loved the outdoors, spending hours working in the woods, deer hunting, and fishing. His favorite time of year was making maple syrup with his family. He was also an excellent handyman. Anything broken didn’t stay that way for long … he was right on it.
Larry is survived by his wife, Connie of 67 years; and children: Rick (Kim) Dix of Chili, Lori (Merle) Rose of Granton, Sheri (Bruce) Hanson of Granton, Thomas (Brenda) Dix of Chili, David (Melissa) Dix of Chili, Steven (Lisa) Dix of Loyal, and Julia (Kent) Eibergen of Phillips; 16 grandchildren: Kayla (Jake) Blackhall, Shawn (Robert) Stevens, Andrew Rohland, Devin (Megan) Rose, DeAnna (Chad) Rasmussen, Joshua (Amanda) Hanson, Jamie (Deann) Hanson, Brittney (Jason) King, Dustin (Makenze) Dix, Derrick Dix, Alanna (Nick) Cline, Carly (Ryley) Fischer, Ryan Dix, Andrea (fiancé, Nate Gruenke), Hannah (Phil) Conklin, and Jonathan Eibergen; 14 great-grandchildren: Mila Blackhall, Adeline and Henry Rose, Kylie Laufenberg, Karsyn Rasmussen, Harper and Arie Hanson, Carter and Hudson Hanson, Brynlee, Briar and Brecken King, and Jaxon and Octavia Dix. He is survived by two brothers, Donavon (Carol) Dix of Nekoosa, and Rodney (Corrine) Dix of Chili; and brother-in-law, Dennis (Diane) Lee of Athens, Ala.
