George Adams

George Harlan Adams, of Medford, entered his heavenly home on January 4, 2025j under the tender care of Hope Hospice.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Medford (W5334 Dassow Ave.). Rev. Ralph Shorey will preside. Family and friends are welcome for a visitation at the church beginning at 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at the church. Interment to follow a lunch at the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery South. The honor of pallbearers belongs to Lee Schmidt, Robert Balciar, Richard Hamann, David Sommer, Tony Czerniak and Chad Liske. The honorary pallbearers are Jerry Sanden and John Demi. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.

George, called Harlan, was born on July 23, 1935, the son of George H. and Pearl G. (Sanden) Adams in Rio, WI. He was united in marriage to Beverly Schmidt, the love of his life, on May 25, 1979.

Harlan attended Rio Elementary and High School graduating in 1953. He then went to the UW - Stevens Point graduating in 1957 and then earned a master’s degree in music from UW Oshkosh. Harlan taught music in high schools and middle schools in several school systems throughout Wisconsin for 32 years. Music was very dear to him whether instrumental or vocal. He directed church choirs and sang in many choirs.

Harlan enjoyed skiing, fishing, hunting, traveling, music, biking, classic car shows, woodworking (intarsia), Broadway shows, baseball, basketball and football. He was an avid fan of the Brewers, Badgers and Packers.

Harlan was a strong person of many talents and interests. As we honor and remember him, we will hold onto the memories and his vibrant spirit and the joy he brought to those around him. May his legacy of love, compassion and enthusiasm for life continue to inspire all who knew him. He was dedicated to his passion of teaching and his faith.

Harlan is survived by close relatives and friends.
