Mary Lou Besonen

After holding various jobs in the Heartland and Delafield areas, she filled her days

Mary Lou (Dumler) Besonen of Heartland passed away peacefully on Dec. 11, 2024, after a courageous battle against dementia. Mary was born April 18, 1945, to Ruth and Walter Dumler.

After graduating from Spencer High School, Mary left her childhood home with her cousin Carol for employment in Milwaukee. It was there that she met Edward Besonen. In 1972, they became husband and wife, making their home in Heartland. The year 1975 brought them a son, Peter; and 1982, a daughter, Ashley.

Mary was a loving and devoted mother, raising her children. Family meant the world to her. spending time with her four treasured grandchildren.

Mary will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her. Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Edward; son, Peter (Melanie) of Lannon; daughter, Ashley (Dustin) Wolfgram of Merton; and beloved grandchildren, Madeleine, Alexandria, Hudson and Emma. of Medford and Barbara of Eau Claire; brothers, Tom and Rick (Karen) of Spencer; as well as many nieces and nephews who loved her.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Walter Dumler; in-laws Peter and Martha; a brother, Lamont (a.k.a. Sonny); brother-in-law Jesse Nowak; and nephews Micah Nowak and Matthew Dumler.

Private services will be held on Jan. 11, 2025, at Everet-Luko Funeral Home in Heartland, where condolences may be sent.

Mary will also be missed by her sisters, Gloria (Dick) of Marshfield, Delores (Rick) In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Mary's memory be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
