Marie Deming
Marie C. Deming, age 89, of Weston, and formerly of Minocqua, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 19, at Rennes Health & Rehab in Weston. Marie was born on September 9, 1935, in Marshfield, the daughter of Joseph and Dorothy (nee Berdan) Kraus, Sr.
Marie married Don Deming at Sacred Heart Catholic Rectory in Marshfield. They lived in Abbotsford for 30 years, raising a family. They then moved to Minocqua, owning and operating Demings’ Resort on Fence Lake for 20-plus years. Marie worked as an x-ray tech for Lakeland Medical Center for many years and was a member of Lakeland Art League, AAUW and won many local and state awards for art.
Marie had a passion and great talent for painting with oil and watercolors. She attended art classes every Monday while her children were still at home. She painted many beautiful paintings for over 50 years. Marie also loved to travel with friends and art groups painting as they traveled. Marie, Don and their family went to the Driftwood Resort on Vero Beach, Fla., for over 40 years. When they lived in Abbotsford, she enjoyed going to the kid’s sporting events and concerts. The family attended St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, and she was very active in volunteering there. She loved the outdoors, gardening, reading, being on the lake, boating, water and snow skiing, walking in the woods and collecting birch bark, berries and pinecones for projects. She loved gathering with family and friends and dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her five children: Paul
