Judy Martyn
Judith “Judy” A. Martyn, age 81, of Edgar, passed away on Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, at the Marshfield Medical Center.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church, Town of Frankfort (114323 Huckleberry Road, Edgar). Rev. Jeff Tarras presided. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Family and friends were welcomed from 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.
Judy was born on July 5, 1943, the daughter of George and Anita (Wehrman) Hoernke in the Town of Frankfort. She graduated from Spencer High School. On October 7,1961, Judy was united in marriage to William “Bill” Martyn at Peace Lutheran Church. Together they farmed in the Town of Frankfort for over 50 years. They recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.
Judy worked various jobs: teaching, waitressing, school cook and golf courses in Marshfield and Wisconsin Rapids. She was a long time member of Peace Lutheran Church. Judy taught Sunday School, was a member of the Ladies Aid, and helped with meals and decorations.
During her spare time, she enjoyed a lot of sewing, crafting and lawn mowing. Judy loved sitting next to her living room window watching the birds, especially the cardinals. Most importantly, she loved and cherished her family.
Judy is survived by her husband, William “Bill”; four sons: Randy (Sara), William (Tammy), Robert (Tammy) and Perry (Peggy); 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother, Alan (Joyce) Hoernke and her sister, Lori Wilhelm; three sistersin- law: Evelyn Christensen, Sandy Martyn and Lorraine Martyn; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Tyler; her brother, Terry; two sisters-in-law: Esther Schmirler and Emily Martyn and three brothers-in-law: Elmer, Isaac and Edward Martyn.
