David Ruppert
David Ruppert, age 83, of Colby, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford. Pastor Don Everhard will preside. Military honors provided by the Unity American Legion Post #358. Family and friends are welcome from 2 p.m. until the time of service Friday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Colby is entrusted with the arrangements.
David was born on October 10, 1941, the son of Harold and Erva (Bennett) Ruppert in Colby. He graduated from Colby High School. David served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a Vietnam War vet. On December 7, 1991, David was united in marriage to Yvonne Sturns at First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford. She preceded her in death on May 12, 2023.
David worked hard all his life. He owned his own concrete business until selling it in 1987. David also was a logger and produced maple syrup. In his later years, he spent his summers as a campground host at many different campgrounds. David was an avid deer hunter and fisherman, including fishing in Canada many times with his sons. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford, the Colby Lions Club and the Unity American Legion.
David is survived by three sons: Jim (Lisa), Tom (Amy Sue) and Steve (Shannon); three grandchildren: Tawny, Emmy and Shane; a step-grandson: Angel (Amanda) Powell and two step-great-grandchildren: Avery and Aleaya Powell. He is further survived by two twin brothers and three sisters: Carol (John) Busse, Dean (Jeanne), Gene (Pam), Penny (Dennis) Pohle and Sandy Brown; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Yvonne.
