Helen M. Schultz

Helen M. Schultz, age 91, of Abbotsford, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at The Waterford in Colby under the tender care of Heartland Hospice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Saint Bernard Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Rev. Keith Kitzhaber will officiate. Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.

Helen was born on January 5, 1933, the daughter of William and Alice (Doheny) Vickerman in the Town of Lima, Rock County, WI. She graduated from Milton High School and Milton College and earned her Master’s Degree in Music from UW Eau-Claire. Helen was united in marriage to Martin Schultz on August 28, 1954 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milton.

Helen was a devoted mother and raised her three sons. She taught at St. Louis Catholic School in Dorchester and was a substitute teacher at the Abbotsford schools. Helen was the Municipal Judge in Abbotsford for over a decade. She performed with the Marshfield Chamber Chorale and was a talented sketch artist. Helen was an active member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Abbotsford, where she was a member of the PCCW. She also played piano and sang for Masses, funerals, and weddings and especially enjoyed playing for the Hispanic Masses and special occasions. Because of her lifelong dedication to the church, Helen was a recipient of the LaCrosse Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Femina Lucis-Woman of Light.

Helen is survived by her husband of 70 years, Martin; three sons: John Schultz (Sharon), William (Patty) Schultz and Glenn (Kristy) Schultz; five grandchildren: Jessica (Marty) Shaw, Christopher (Augusta) Schultz, Katie Schultz, Jeremy Schultz and Daniel (Beth) Schultz; six great-grandchildren: Andrea Shaw, Alex Shaw, Abbie Shaw, Orion Schultz, Maddax Schultz and Layla Schultz. She is further survived by her brother, Frank (Lucille) Vickerman, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and six sisters: Anne Entringer, Alice McNall, Catherine Stehle, Genevieve Augustine, Margaret Shaw and Rose Frittitia; and five brothers: John, Joseph, William, James and Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorials to St. Bernard Catholic Church.
