Lorraine Myszka
Lorraine Myszka, 95, formerly of Athens, died on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024, while under the care of Heartland Hospice at the Waterford at Colby.
She was born January 24, 1929, in Milwaukee and attended St. Casimir’s Grade School. She was the only child of the late Dennis and Mary Werowinski. When she was 12 years old, the family moved to a dairy farm in Milladore. She later worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Company in Marshfield before meeting her future husband, Ervin Myszka, at a polka dance.
Lorraine and Ervin were united in marriage on May 21, 1955, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milladore. They were blessed with 65 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on October 12,2020.
After their marriage, Lorraine became a homemaker and a stay at home wife and mother, raising their children on a dairy farm in Schnappsville, growing their own produce, canning and tending to her flower gardens.
Some of Lorraine’s favorite pastimes included doing puzzles, playing cards, bingo, watching EWTN and listening to country and polka music. Important to her was her faith and family. She was longtime member of Holy Family Parish, Poniatowski, and the Parish Council of Catholic Women.
Survivors include six children: Cliff (Vicky) Myszka, Athens and their children Tracy Booth, Rhonda (Craig) Beck and Lee (Becca) Myszka, Linda Myszka, Athens, Kathy (Andy) Mondroski, Schofield and their children Andrea Hanke and Becky (Mike) Schneppenheim, Eileen Hager (fiancé Steve Ludy) Wausau and her children Andy Hager and Jackie Hager, Jeff (Barb) Myszka, Athens and her children Jen (Jason) Legois, Jacob Orlowski, Heidi (Edward) Svejda and Joe (Emily) Orlowski and Larry Myszka, Athens. She was further blessed with many greatgrandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. Rev. Alan Wierzba presided. The burial was in the parish cemetery. Visitation was on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
