Loyal Legion Auxiliary plans upcoming events
The Loyal American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Post 175 meeting was called to order Oct. 1 at 7:30 p.m. by President Jackie Rowley. Members opened with prayer, a moment of silence for deceased members, the Pledge of Allegiance and Preamble.
October birthdays were Carol Bauer and Sharon Rogers.
The secretary’s report was read by Julie Poehnelt and approved.
The treasurer’s report was read by Norma Wentzel and approved.
Tysen Lindner from Greenwood High School reported to the group on her week at Badger Girls State in Oshkosh. She would highly recommend the experience to other upcoming junior girls.
Barb Lucht gave the sunshine report. “Thinking of you” cards went out Arlene Miller, Jean Langfeldt, Kathy Pieper and Donnie Bangart. Asympathy card was sent to Bob and Jean Hannum.
Rowley thanked those who helped with the September fish fry and steak feed.
New business included the following: On Sunday, Nov. 17, the Auxiliary will be decorating the Legion for Christmas and making veteran ornaments with the Loyal Lads and Lassies 4-H Club.
Dawn Jacobson made a motion to give $100 to each family affected by the fire, seconded by Sharon Rogers. The motion carried.
Operation Christmas Child boxes are due back on Nov. 12.
Gladys Zuehlke is stepping down as chaplain and Donna Langfeldt will take over in November. Jacobson will be the new historian.
A motion was made by Jodi Lindner, seconded by Sharon Rogers, to donate $100 to Elena Hurrell’s daughter Marie in North Carolina, as she was affected by the hurricane.
The Clark County Auxiliary meeting will be Oct. 22 in Humbird.
Lindner gave an update on Dueling Pianos. She is still planning for a March date in 2025.
Dawn reported on upcoming events, which are as follows: Oct. 11 fish fry, Oct. 21 steak feed, Oct. 26 birthday party, Nov. 8 fish fry and Nov. 10 Veterans Pancake Breakfast. Members were invited to decorate a light pole for Halloween on Loyal’s Main Street on Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. The drawing was won by Sharon Rogers. A reminder was given to attend the Veterans Day program at the high school at 10 a.m. on Nov. 11. The meeting closed with a prayer by Zuehlke. The next meeting will be Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
