Mary Lou (Licht) Buttke
Our beloved mother, Mary Lou (Licht) Buttke, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024, in Marshfield, surrounded by her family.
Mary was born in Stanley, to Leonard Sr., and Adeline (Koepl) Licht, Dec. 8, 1944.
She married the love of her life, Lavern Buttke Sr., Sept. 30, 1961; they were married for 47 years.
They started their family together in Stanley, and then moved to Cadott, in 1972, where they grew their family of six sons and four daughters on the family farm.
Mary spent her life raising her family, as well as working outside of the home as a cook, which she enjoyed. Later in life, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She also had a passion for reading, gardening, baking and puzzle books. Mary also had a special place in her heart for John Wayne memorabilia, along with cow knickknacks and decor.
Mary Lou will be remembered for her love of crocheting, as she made all her children and grandchildren afghans. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
She is survived by her children – Lonny (Betty) Buttke, Cadott, Loren (Deb) Buttke, Cadott, Luann Buttke, Rice Lake, Lucas (Agnes) Buttke, Cadott, Levi Buttke, Cadott, Lona Jo (Zach) Vollbrecht, Cadott, and Lavenia (Russ) Malecki, Cadott; son-in-law – Rod Korn; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; siblings – Gary, Paulette, Terry and Lenny; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband – Lavern Buttke Sr.; daughter – Lisa Korn; son – Lavern Buttke Jr.; son – Leon Buttke; grandchildren – Heather, Brittany, Anthony, Rosemary and William; siblings – Leonia, Fritz, Betty, Elaine and Nick.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 12, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cadott, with the Rev. Robert Hopkins officiating. Inurnment will be in the Brooklawn Cemetery in Cadott.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m., until the time of service, Saturday, at the church.
