She married the love of her life, Joe Newman, on May 16, 1953, two weeks after his return from Korea. They had five children together and celebrated 64 years of marriage before his death on November 23, 2017.
Two of the children were daughters: Kay Franklin (Jaye) of Marshfield and Denise Gravcorvitz (Rick) of Carrollton, Texas, and three sons: Dan (Raina) of Waxhaw, N.C., Bruce (Ann) of Mesa, Ariz., Neal (Maggie) of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild. One grandchild Ashton is deceased.

Her family and their interests brought her so much enjoyment. She also did a lot of ceramic paintings and wood painting on the toys Joe made. Reading, puzzles and flower gardening were things she enjoyed doing. In later years the computer and her smart phone brought her a lot of enjoyment.
