Dolores Rose Sova Dolores Rose Sova

1926-2024

Dolores Rose Sova, 98, of Medford, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 14, 2024, under the care of Hope Hospice, with her loving family by her side.

A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 215 S Washington Ave, Medford, on Friday, Sept. 13. Visitation at the church begins at 9 a.m., with Mass at 11 a.m. and a luncheon to follow.

Dolores was born on June 16, 1926, in Milwaukee, one of nine children of Vernon and Rose (Eisert) Roberts. She married Alvin Sova on April 26, 1943, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford. They were blessed with 14 children and farmed in the town of Holway for many years before moving to the City of Medford. A hard-working farmer and mother, she also worked for H& R Block and later Tombstone Pizza until her retirement.

Throughout her life, Dolores drew strength from her deep faith in Jesus Christ. She was a longtime member of Holy Rosary Parish in Medford, where her acts of service and compassion to help those in need led to her nomination for the Council of Catholic Women’s Pax Christi Award.

Dolores enjoyed sewing, crafting, gardening, golfing, traveling, and playing cards. Her children will always remember how she filled their home with warmth, kindness, and the delicious smell of homemade bread. They will never forget her unconditional love and support. Her grandchildren will cherish the handmade gifts from Grandma and the times she made them laugh with her sense of humor and funny faces. From the moment she held her firstborn twins to the arrival of every great-great-grandchild, Dolores adored little ones and found true joy each time she cuddled the newest members of her family.

She is survived by her children, Jim (Janet) Sova, Carol (John) Willman, David (Penny) Sova, Shirley (Marshall) Kleist, Bill (Mary) Sova, Daniel (Nancy) Sova, Ronnie Sova, Kevin (Laura) Sova, Laura Leary, Mary Henrichs, Joe (Val) Sova, and Kent (Heidi) Sova; 41 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings, Wesley Roberts, Donald Roberts, Garon Roberts, and Virgiely Dax.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alvin Sova; twin sons, Dale and Duane; sisters, LaVerne Borchardt and Adoree Brunner; brothers, Clifford and Vernon Roberts; grandson, Logan Sova; great-grandson, Levi Pisors; son-in-law, Dan Leary; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Heib-Sova.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that Dolores now rests in the arms of her Heavenly Father, reunited with all the loved ones who have gone before her. Her life was a testament to the power of faith, love, and family, and her memory will be cherished forever.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for donation to causes that were close to her heart.
