Evelyn A. Salzgeber Apfelbeck, 90, of Medford, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Aspirus Medford Hospital. A funeral mass for Evelyn took place at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake, with Father Julian Druffner officiating. Burial was at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation took place at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Monday, June 24, 2024 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m..

Evelyn was born on Feb. 26, 1934 to George and Margaret (Thums) Haider in the township of Greenwood. She attended Highland School and graduated from Rib Lake High School in 1952. She worked for Robert Klinner & Associates in accounting, Tombstone Pizza as a commissions supervisor, and lastly at J. Bauer Trucking in accounting. She married John Salzgeber Jr. on June 10, 1955 and he preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 1996. She married Arnold Apfelbeck on Feb. 10, 2001 and he survives.

Evelyn enjoyed ceramics, Swedish weaving, dancing, playing cards, bowling, and going to Arizona and Florida in the winters.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Arnold; children, Wayne (Lorreta) Salzgeber, Karen (Gary) Harris, Bruce (Carol) Salzgeber, and Gary (Micki) Salzgeber; grandchildren, Heather, Chad, Erika, Morgan, Austin, Mikali, and Zackari and 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Verlyn Haider; sisters, Esther Kraus and Annabelle Kolecheck. Evelyn is further survived by her stepchildren, Vicki (Steve) Koch, Kari (Tom) Houg, Deejay Apfelbeck, and Holly Rankin; seven step-grandchildren, and many other family and friends.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her first husband, John; sisters, Marcella (Lou) Trojnair and Mildred Tauber-Goddard; brothers, Ewald (Sandy) Haider and Milton Haider.
