Patricia J. Kolpack, 96 of Gilman, passed away on June 5, 2024 at the Clark County Health Care Center. She was born on June 8, 1927 to the late Fred and Catherine (Hoverland) Ahlers. She grew up near Jump River on the family farm and attended area schools. She married Harold “Jake” Kolpack on May 17, 1952 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church-Gilman. The couple ran the local Jake’s Bar in Gilman for many years.

Pat was the school bookkeeper for Gilman School district for 40+ years. She retired in 2003. Before she was a bookkeeper she worked various jobs cleaning local homes as well as some family homemaking in Chicago.

Jake and Pat were Foster parents for many children throughout the years. Pat was a baby magnet and always was giving her loving attention to children at the school and at the tavern.

Pat was an active member of the church as bookkeeper, the ladies aid, and teaching CCD. She was an avid bowler and golfer, a particular gardener and was a social butterfly. Pat also was always well dressed and kept up with the current fashions.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Baier of Thorp; her granddaughters, Bobbie (Dan) Neisius, Ann Batteen, Ellen (Aaron) Kromrey and Carrie Hempleman; great grandchildren, Sebastian (Faith), Waylan, Damian, Kalvin, Emma (Nate), Shelby, Dorian, Ivan, Hunter, LiliAnn and William; and two great-great-grandchildren, Anthony and Aurora.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jake (2002); son-in-law, Edward Baier; grandson-in-law, Jason Hempleman; a great-granddaughter, Victoria; her brothers, Jack, Warren and Edwin Ahlers; and sisters, Nadine “Dot” Morgan, Virginia Straton and Rita Kraft.

A funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church-Gilman, Father Vijay Kumar officiated. Burial followed in Mount Nebo Cemetery-Jump River with her great-grandsons acting as pall bearers. Visitation was from 8:30 a.m. until time of service at the church.
