Louie Thune Louie Thune

Louie Thune, 85, Eau Claire, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Cambridge Senior Living in Eau Claire, and under the care of Interim Hospice.

Louie was born May 14, 1939, in Cornell, to Ben and Katherine Thune.

He was a man of great ambition throughout his life. At just 12 years old, he was running a daily paper route before school. While in high school, he worked as a mechanic at the Standard Oil Station.

Following graduation from technical college, he was a draftsman at Phoenix Steel. His childhood dream of being part of the group of big trucks rolling down Hwy. 27 came true, when he joined Allied Blacktop, where he was proud to serve for 25 years, as president and general manager.

In retirement, he enjoyed traveling by RV, golfing and camping. He also went hunting out west and home in Wisconsin. He always displayed his unwavering support of the Green Bay Packers.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years – Nancy, Eau Claire; daughter – Tammy (David) Lubick; sister-in-law – Darlene Benson; two nephews – Brian Benson and Greg Thune; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother – Don Thune; and sister-in-law – Nita Thune.

He will be remembered for his dedication, hard work, and love for his family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will take place at noon, Tuesday, June 4, at Hulke Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, with Pastor Paul Woebbeking officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11 a.m.
