Arvin Langjahr

Arvin L. Langjahr, age 90, of Unity, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 27, 2024, at Abbotsford Health Care Center under the tender care of St. Croix Hospice.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford with the Rev. Teri Hanson presiding. Family and friends are welcome from noon until the time of service on Monday. Interment to follow with military honors provided by the Colby VFW Post #2227 at Colby Memorial Cemetery.

Arvin was born on November 22, 1933, the son of Arvin T. and Velma (Henke) Langjahr in Riplinger. He joined the U.S. Army in 1956 and was discharged in 1959 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. On April 8, 1961, Arvin was united in marriage to Eleanor Murphy at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity. He worked for the Harmony Feed Mill in Colby, Johnson’s Garage in Colby, Wilderness Campers in Unity and Wisconsin Homes in Marshfield, retiring after 20 years.

Arvin was a member of the Edgar Steam Show, Eau Claire Pioneer Show and the Plainfield Old Thrashers Steam Show. He enjoyed collecting John Deere tractors and antique machines. Arvin liked to work out in the garage and yard. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Arvin is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eleanor; five sons: Arvin J. of Antigo, Allen (Julie) of Owen, Dale (Cindy) of Marshfield, Larry of New Richmond and Paul (Kay) of Marshfield; 13 grandchildren and over 20 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother, Ellis (Ruth) of Marinette, and his sister, Lois Spangler of Wausau; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Doris Drexler and Irene Edblom, and three brothers: Neil, Harold and Donald.
