Kenneth “Ken” L. Carlsen

Kenneth “Ken” L. Carlsen, 83, of Sheldon, passed away on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024 at the Homeplace of Dorchester, under the care of Hope Hospice. A celebration of life will take place at Hemer Pickerign Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Ken was born on July 31, 1940 to Thorvald and Genevieve (Braun) Carlsen in Stanley. He attended Withee schools and graduated from Taylor County Teachers College. He married Carole Blazer on Jan. 16, 1965 in Withee. He was a teacher in the Flambeau School District for 40 years. He was also on the Sheldon Fire Department for 50

years and taught hunter safety for 40 years. When he wasn’t teaching he enjoyed his time in the woods hunting, walking, making firewood, and logging.

Ken is survived by his three sons, Mark (Beverley) Carlsen and Mike (Becky Miller) Carlsen, both of Sheldon, and Kevin (Julie) Carlsen of Medford; grandchildren, Celsey (Noah) Weiss, Cole (Rachel Turner) Carlsen, Cordel (Holly) Carlsen, Cody Schutts, Brayden Carlsen, Finley Carlsen, and Hank Carlsen; and four great-grandchildren. Ken is further survived by his brother, Jim (Joan) Carlsen of Chippewa Falls, and many other family and friends.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Carole.
