Paul D. Michler, 90, of Medford died in his home on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024 while under the care of Hope Hospice. A funeral service for Paul will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Daniel Iwinski officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Following the service military rites will be performed by the Medford Military Honors Team.

Paul was born April 1, 1933 to Paul H. and Mildred (Miller) Michler in Medford. He attended Medford Area Schools and graduated from Medford High School. He then attended Minnesota Business College until he enlisted in the US Air Force. He served state side during the Korean War and was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Neb., where he served from 1953-1957. After his years of service, Paul returned to Medford to work at his family’s business, Paul Michler and Sons, where he later became the business owner. He was involved in the family business from 1957 until his retirement in 1997 when they closed the business.

On Jan. 24, 1959 Paul married the love of his life Bonnie Willner and she survives. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in a few weeks.

1933-2024

Paul was a very active community member. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, a charter member of the Whittlesey Lions, member of the American Legion post 147, Miller Dam Lake Association. He was very proud to be a part of these organizations and served in multiple positions over the years and spent many hours working in any capacity needed. He also was a former member of the Chelsea Conservation Club and the Taylor County Sportsman Club.

Paul had many hobbies, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, and played on various softball teams. He was very proud that he played softball until he turned 73. He also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and spent many hours over his later years putting together 100s of them. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren were very special to him. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time at the cabin, The Michler Hunting Club.

Paul is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his children, Daniel (Barbara) Michler of Greenwood and Debra (Jeffery) Tom of Medford; grandchildren, Michael (special friend, Melanie) of Radisson, Joshua of Greenwood and Rachel (Gary) McCully of Green Bay.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dorothy Werner; brothers-in-law, Leon Werner and Donald Mauer; and nephew, Mark Frischmann.

The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial to be donated to them, to then be donated per Paul’s wishes.
