Suzanne L. Wages “Sue or Suzi”, age 64, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023, at Edenbrook Health Care Center.

She was born on April 28, 1959. The daughter of Larry and Carol (Schillinger) Engel. Suzi grew up in the Wisconsin Rapids area and attended Lincoln High School. After which she later achieved her GED. She then earned her associate degree from Mid-State Technical College for Marketing and Business Management. Suzi loved spending time outdoors, fishing, scavenging, gardening, and camping. Yelling BINGO on Wednesday night at the Elks was a favored pastime. She enjoyed a good Friday night fish fry with a brandy sour. She was a lover of all animals, especially Karumba and her fur-grandbabies Mittens, Mia, Kitana, and Yoshi. She enjoyed live music with dancing and always listened to rock and roll and the blues. She lived life to the fullest and could be the life of the party. She had a contagious laugh and was well known for her jokes.

Suzi worked at numerous retail and manufacturing positions throughout the years. Including waitressing and management at various restaurants, Weyerhaeuser, Rainbow Casino, AIG/Noel Group, and towards her later years Walmart and Goodwill. She was a fiercely dedicated worker who did everything to better her sons’ lives.

Suzi is survived by her mother, Carol; her sons, Jesse (Crystal) Wages, Casey (Rachel) Wages; her sister, Patti Engel; and her grandchildren, Elijah, Nick, and Kaylei Wages. She is further survived by many cousins and relatives in the Schillinger and Engel families.

She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Engel; her former husband and long time family friend, Dennis Wages; and father to her youngest son, Fred Bittner.

In lieu of services a celebration of life will be held at the Double Down Banquet Hall (Wild Horse) at a to be determined date/time.

The family would like to thank the amazing staff of Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Aspirus Riverview Hospital, and Edenbrook on Strawberry Lane both in Wisconsin Rapids for all the care they gave Suzi.
