Starla L. Meyer
1959-2023
Starla L. Meyer, age 64, of Westboro, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, at Aspirus Medford Hospital.
She was born on Sept. 9, 1959, in Medford, to the late Frank and Mildred (Scott) Kestler. Starla was a lifelong resident of the Westboro area where she attended school in Westboro and Rib Lake. She was a 1977 graduate of Rib Lake High School.
Upon graduation, Starla worked at the nursing home in Rib Lake and on April 19, 1986, she was married to Robert Meyer at “The Little Brown Church” in Nashua, Iowa. They then moved back to Westboro. Starla worked in health care, taking care of the elderly and Alzheimer’s patients. She also had an in-home day care for several years. Starla worked at Weather Shield Manufacturing in Medford for many years and later at Parrett Windows & Doors in Dorchester; retiring in 2022.
She was a member of the Westboro Sno-Dusters and the Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs (AWSC). Starla enjoyed baking, cooking, snowmobiling, camping, gardening, and hiking. She was known to many family and friends as the best “Bonus Mom” to all she helped. Most of all, Starla loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Robert “Bob” Meyer, of Westboro; her sons, Jacob (Skye) Meyer, of Green Bay, and Justin (Alyssa) Meyer, of Colby; her brothers, David (Naomi) Kestler, of Westboro, Darrell (Lisa) Kestler, of Brantwood, Bruce (Laurie) Kestler, of Florida, and Wendall (Peggy) Kestler, of Medford; her sisters, Javelle (Marvin) Schrader, of Tripoli, and Kayleen Kestler, of Medford. Starla is further survived by her grandson, Flynn Meyer, and one grandchild on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mildred; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Carol Meyer; her brother and sisterin- law, Richard and Gail; and her sisters, Denna and Lori.
The family will be having a celebration of life gathering for Starla at a later date and will be announced at that time. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory of Tomahawk is assisting the family.
