Johanna Kropp

Johanna S. Kropp, age 77, of Colby, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at VitaCare Living of Abbotsford.

A private family service will be held. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.

Johanna was born on January 1, 1946, the daughter of Fredrick and Clara (Felzkowski) Kropp in Wausau. She was raised on the family farm in Athens. After not finishing high school, Johanna worked at Marathon Cheese in Marathon, Phillips Plastics in Medford and later at Abbyland Foods in Abbotsford, before health issues began to affect her.

Johanna loved going to stock car races locally in her younger years, as well as listening to polka music and attending dances later on. She also liked to collect ceramic bells, religious items and watch anything on the Hallmark Channel. Even though she had many minor and major health issues during her life, Johanna kept a strong will to persevere through them, and she deeply appreciated her time spent with family and friends.

Johanna is survived by her son, Allen (Cheryl) Kropp of Medford; her granddaughter, Ashlyn Kropp; her brother, Leroy Kropp of Merrill; her sister, Joyce (Peter) Horacek of Abbotsford; a brother-in-law, Victor Pilsner of Robbins, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Delores Pilsner and Mary Dvorak.
