Joyce K. Block, age 64, of Colby, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, at the Colonial Health and Rehab in Colby under the tender care of St. Croix Hospice.
A private family graveside service was held at St. John’s Cemetery in Riplinger.
Joyce was born on July 25, 1959, the daughter of John and Lois (Kademan) Block in Marshfield. She graduated from Colby High School in 1977. She worked at Tombstone Pizza for many years and then as a dietary aide at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield for 26 years.
Joyce loved and cherished her family. It was her greatest joy when she became a grandmother, or “Gram Gram” as Tanna called her. She was so proud watching her granddaughter show animals at the fair and wouldn’t have traded that time with Tanna for anything in the world. Joyce also enjoyed watching her nephew, Jamison, and niece/godchild, Jemma. As Jamison would say, they were best buds. They often went to the Wildwood Park & Zoo in Marshfield to feed the ducks or to the Colby Community Library. She also loved spending time with her nephew, Jordan. She was always checking in to make sure he was alright or if he needed anything.
She liked to go on trips with her mom. They especially enjoyed going to Branson, Mo. They would frequently be found dining at their favorite restaurants in the area or stopping in at the local bakeries and markets. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Joyce is survived by her mother, Lois of Colby; her daughter, Kristina (Adam) Luchterhand of Neillsville; her granddaughter, Tanna Luchterhand of Neillsville; her brother, Jonathan (Heidi) Block of Colby and her sister, Jean (David) Toltzman of Spencer. She is further survived by her nieces and nephews: Jemma Block of Colby, Jamison Block of Colby, Jordan Lindner of Eau Claire, Sierra Carlson of Spencer and Joshua Toltzman of Spencer.
She was preceded in death by her father and her sister, Jill.
The family would like to thank the Colonial Health and Rehab staff and St. Croix Hospice for the loving care Joyce received.
