Wayne Belanger

Wayne A. Belanger, age 89, of Holcombe, passed away July 22, 2023, at Meadowbrook nursing home in Bloomer.

Wayne was born May 14, 1934, to Arthur and Margaret (Schroeder) Belanger in Stratford. Wayne served in the U.S. Army in 1954 during the Korean War and served 1-1/2 years stationed in Korea.

In 1958 he married Geraldine Obernberger, his wife of 65 years. In 1959 they purchased a bar in Milan and called it “Wayne & Geri’s.” They sold their bar in Milan and opened another “Wayne & Geri’s” in Athens. In 1971 they sold the bar and started Belanger Trucking and Belanger Granite. Wayne retired in the 1980s and they moved full time to their cabin in Holcombe.

Wayne loved the outdoors he was an avid hunter. He also enjoyed fishing, playing pranks on family and friends, traveling, golfing, bowling, pool league and baseball. He was quick with a joke and loved spending time with his family, friends and grandchildren.

Wayne is survived by his wife: Geraldine; six children: Nancy (JJ), Darrell (Kris), Debbie, Corinne (Tim), James (Rhonda) and Cheryl (Brian); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Fern (Walter) Baumann, Jean (Victor) Streamer, Lyle (Donna Mae) Belanger and Myra Boneske A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lions Pavilion in Holcombe on Cty.
