Duane J. Webb, 83, died peacefully with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Willow Brooke Senior Living in Stevens Point, under the tender care of Promedica Hospice, where he had been living for almost two years.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, 2023, at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Parish in Colby. Father Amir Stanislaus will preside. Interment will be held at a later date at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Rock Falls. Family and friends are welcome from 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church. A live stream will be available for those unable to attend on the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home Facebook page or after the service anytime on Facebook or the website. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.

Duane was born to Leo and Ruby (Thines) Webb on October 6, 1939, on a farm in Eau Galle. He was the fourth of six children and was the first to graduate college from UW-Stout, where he received his masters degree. He was also a pitcher for his college baseball team.

Duane married Dorothy Pichler on August 20, 1960, and they were married for almost 55 years before her passing in 2015. After their marriage they moved to Granada, Minn., to start their family.

He started his teaching career in Granada, Minn., in 1960 and moved to Colby, where he taught industrial arts at Colby High School from August 1967 until his retirement in June 1996. He was better known as ‘Doc Webb’ to students, both students that liked him as a teacher and those he had to discipline.

Duane loved playing golf and bowling, as well as playing cards with friends and family. He was very involved with St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Colby Lions. He enjoyed helping both during Colby Cheese Days. He always enjoyed visiting with the grandkids and making homemade ice cream for family and friends.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Ruby Webb; his wife, Dorothy; his siblings: Roger Webb and Marlene Fredrickson; and many sisters & brother-in-laws.

Duane is survived by his children: Dale Webb of Eagan Minn., Doug (Shy) Webb of Oshkosh, Donald (June) Webb of Farmington, Minn., Deanna (Bob) Bunkelman of Excelsior, Minn., and Debbie (Pete) Zaske of Stevens Point; eight grandchildren: Donna (Stephan) Felker, Brandon Webb, Kyle (Cassie) Bunkelman, Clayton Webb, Brady Bunkelman, Devon (Becca) Webb, Anissa Zaske and Leo Zaske; five great-grandchildren: Hoyt, Hazel, Malachi, Silas and Annabelle; siblings: Bob (Ruth) Webb, Sharon (Ed) Peabody, Keith (Kathy) Webb; brotherin- law, Dick Fredrickson; along with many other relatives.
