Gary Allen Grieser, 75, Spencer, passed away Friday, June 9, 2023, surrounded by his beloved family.

Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Spencer, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023, with visitation from 9:30-11:30 am. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Ramker, Darren Voss, Bart Schreiber, Chad Grieser, Travis Hardrath and Allen Jicinsky.

Gary was born to Elmer and Darlene (Viegut) Grieser on July 14, 1947, in Stratford. He began his education at Ludington School, a one-room schoolhouse in Halder. He graduated from Mosinee High School and went on to earn an associate degree in marketing from North Central Technical Institute.

On April 18, 1970, he married the love of his life, Karen Ramker. What began as a blind date led to 53 years of marriage, including three children, three grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren. Family was the center of Gary’s life and a source of endless joy for him.

Gary worked at Weyerhaeuser/Marshfield Door as a hardware specialist in a career spanning 43 years. He was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he spent countless hours serving in various offices. For more than 50 years, he volunteered at First Choice Credit Union, serving on the audit committee since 1973, and on the board of directors since 1991.

Gary enjoyed woodworking and tackling DIY projects. He loved hunting, camping, birdwatching, gardening and reading. Gary loved spending time at the family cottage in Philips over the last 30 years. He also enjoyed playing cards, and had a reputation for being a cribbage master. He was a devoted dad and grandpa, who cherished the time he spent with his family.

He was survived by his wife, Karen; their children, Krisan (Grant) Strejc of Marshfield, Kathy (Scott) Kindberg of Spencer and Keith Grieser (Andrea Price) of Dalton, Ga.; his sisters, Lynell Grieser and Sandy (Ben) Lemens; and sisters-in-law, Arla Voss, Marlene (Galen) Schreiber and Barb Ramker. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Alek Glenzer and Zak and Ali Kindberg; step-grandchildren, Gineva, Jerry and Gavin Strejc; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ken; and infant son, Kevin. If desired, Gary’s family is requesting memorials in his honor to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Spencer.
