June Ann Doubek, 87, of Rib Lake, died Friday, May 19, 2023 at Rib Lake Health Services and while under the care of Hope Hospice. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 25 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rib Lake with Rev. Daniel Iwinski officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated and may go to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
June was born June 1, 1935 in Milwaukee to Jerry and Marie (Krushat) Doubek. She grew up in Rib Lake and graduated from Rib Lake High School in 1953. Following high school, she moved to Chicago where she worked at Illinois Bell Company. Starting as a secretary, she worked her way up in the company, retiring at age 50 as a supervisor.
After her retirement, June moved back to Rib Lake, where she was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church; she worked as a sub secretary for the village of Rib Lake; and was involved with the American Legion. She enjoyed bowling and won many trophies over the years, flower gardening, and traveling. She was always “on the go” and had many travel buddies…often times leaving without knowing the destination but always loved the adventure!
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, EmyLou Doubek of Stone Lake and Julia Doubek of West Dundee, Ill. June was known as the “cool aunt” and is furthered survived by her nieces and nephews: Bill (Fayola) Doubek, Dennis (Mary) Doubek, all of Minn., Jerry (Deb) Doubek, Gary Doubek, all of Wis., Merrie (Brad) Becker, Teri Doubek (Barry), all of Minn., Kathy (Scott) Stimpfl of Pa., Barb (Dan) Wood, John (Kelli) Doubek, all of Ill.; and many great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her parents and three brothers, Marvin, Jerome and Robert Doubek.
