Yvonne Ruppert

Yvonne A. Ruppert, age 86, of Colby, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023, at the Colonial Center in Colby, under the tender care of Compassus Hospice.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford. Pastor Don Everhard will preside. Burial to follow at the Abbotsford Public Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome from 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Yvonne was born on November 2, 1936, the daughter of Prentice and Lavern (Tharinder) Sturns in Elkhorn. She graduated from high school and worked in different factories for most of her life. On July 31, 1954, Yvonne was united in marriage to Harrison Spurlock. They later divorced. On December 7, 1991, Yvonne was united in marriage to David Ruppert at First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford.

Yvonne is survived by her husband, David, of Colby; two children: David Spurlock and Lisa Flowers; three step-sons: Jim (Lisa), Tom (Amy Sue) and Steve (Shannon); three grandchildren: Ashley, Mikala and Amber, and three stepgrandchildren: Tawny, Emmy and Shane. She is further survived by three sisters: Shandra Peters, Janice (Carlyn) Jacobson and Sharon (Dennis) Willngton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Susan, on September 7, 1991.

Over the years, Yvonne spent many hours enjoying the quiet work of needlepoint and spending time fishing and camping with her husband Dave and family dog.
