James R. “Jim” Klancher, 94, Owen, formerly of Greenwood, peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood. Rev. Emmanuel Famiyeh officiated and burial followed in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Willard. Visitation was held at the church, on Monday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

James Robert Klancher was born on Oct. 4, 1928, in West Allis, the only child of Frank J. and Caroline E. (Godec) Klancher. His parents moved to Willard in 1930, and Jim attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Greenwood through the eighth grade. He later worked at O& N Lumber in Greenwood, that later became United Building Center, which his father managed. Jim moved back to West Allis in 1965 and worked at Briggs & Stratton until retiring in 1985. He returned to Greenwood, and lived with his mother until her death in 2002. Jim remained at home until entering the Clark County Rehabilitation and Living and Center in Owen, in 2012.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the K.S.K.J. Lodge #136, and the Slovenska Druzba Club in Willard.

Jim had many interests, but especially loved polka music, dancing, car rides, going out to eat, and socializing with anybody and everybody.

He is survived by cousins and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents. Special thanks to the staff at Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center for the care given to Jim these past 11 years.
