Marlys was born on Jan. 3, 1944, in Tyler, Minn., the daughter of Peter and Luella (Oerter) Holm. She graduated from Tyler High School in 1963. She went on to attend nursing school in Sioux Falls, S.D., graduating in October of 1964 as a licensed practical nurse. On July 17, 1974, she was united in marriage to Norman Tremelling at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield. Marlys worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was a devoted and loving mom. Her children were the light of her life. Marlys was also the bookkeeper for her and her husband’s excavating business. Her three grandchildren, Natalee, Will and Ariana, were all extremely special to and loved by Marlys. They called her “Granny” and were the apple of her eye.
With gifted and patient hands, she loved to sew and tend to her garden. She provided endless compassion and care for animals including many kittens and cats throughout her years. She had a huge heart for animals, especially cats, horses, pigs and her goats.
Those who will cherish her memory include her loving husband of 49 years, Norman; her children, Russell Tremelling of Marshfield, Christine Jensen of Marshfield and Michelle Krueger of Spencer; her grandchildren, Natalee Jensen, William Jensen and Ariana Krueger; her twin sister, Marlene Barber of Kansas; and her beloved companion cats, “Charlie” and “Nermal;” along with other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Luella Holm, and her brothers, David and Robert Holm.
Since Marlys was so dedicated to the success of and gave so much of her time and talents to the Wood County 4-H Organization, the family asks that, if desired, memorials be directed to the Wood County 4-H in her name.
