Lorraine A. Nuernberger, 96, of Medford, died Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Country Gardens Assisted Living in Medford.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 14 at Hemer-Pickerign Funeral Home in Medford with Rev. Nancy Amacher officiating. Burial will follow at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in the town of Holway.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are appreciated and may go to Hope Hospice in Lorraine’s memory.

Lorraine was born March 19, 1927 in the town of Holway to Albert and Helen (Frahmann) Olson. She attended Hillside School and graduated from Medford High School.

On Dec. 18, 1946 she married Herbert Nuernberger at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Holway. They resided in Medford where she worked at the Star News in the subscriptions department.

Lorraine’s interests included fishing, traveling, playing cards and dominoes, which she played with her daughters Friday evening. She and Herbert also enjoyed camping and made many memories doing so in the Chetek area.

She is survived by her seven children, Kay (Barry) Steevens of Columbia, Mo., Dennis Nuernberger of Medford, Janet (Anthony) Kushlan of Nekoosa, Bruce (Susan) Nuernberger of Medford, Vicki Leonard of Alamogordo, N.M., Lee (Jean) Nuernberger of Medford. Joan Kristan of Nixa, Mo.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert on June 7, 2014; siblings, William (Mildred) Olson, John (Mildred) Olson, and Evelyn (Carl) Reid.
