1945-2023
Milton J. “Jim” Mc Namar, 77, died Saturday, April 1, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Medford with the Rev. Ralph Shorey officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held immediately following the burial at the Birds Nest.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Friday, April 7 at Rib Lake location of Hemer-Pickerign Funeral Home, 933 West St., Rib Lake, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Jim was born April 25, 1945 to Phillip and Tilly (Briant) McNamar. Jim worked at Briggs & Stratton for 30 years, starting in the maintenance department and retiring at age 50 as a supervisor for the company.
Jim married Viola Grahm and together had a daughter, Sheila. He then married Sandra Adamec McNamar and together had two more children, Pat and Shawn.
On July 28, 1995 Jim married Elizabeth “Liz” Varga, and merged their two families together, adding Liz’s two children Lisa and David to become one big happy family.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors and spending time with his family. In 1972 he started the Snuff Peter’s club.
He is survived by his wife, Liz; children, Sheila (Darren) McNamar-Rich, Pat (Reyna) McNamar, Shawn (significant other, Kathy Holmes) McNamar, Lisa (Steve) Putterman-Vanoskey, David (Renee) Polley; grandchildren, Justin (Tasha) Putterman, Zack Rasner, Jesse McNamar, Drake Polley, Olivia Rasner, Julia McNamar, Brittney Putterman, Brandon Putterman, Kayla Putterman, Erin Polley, Jeremy Rich, Deagan McNamar; great-grandchildren, Adrias, Elias, and Tobias; and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nona Graumann; and a brother, Jerry McNamar.
