Gerald D. Albers

1932-2023

Gerald D. Albers, 90, formerly of Gilman, died Friday, March 31, 2023.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church – Gilman with Pastor Brian Beardsley officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Gerald was born on April 4, 1932 in Hazen, N.D., the son of the late Edward and Ida (Lange) Albers. Jerry grew up there and graduated from Hazen High School in 1950. He went to UW Stout and received his bachelor’s degree in Technical Education. Jerry later received his master’s degree in Industrial Arts.

He was united in marriage to Shirley Schweigert on June 19, 1955. Jerry taught for Medford Schools for 26 years. In retirement he enjoyed traveling, camping, woodworking and “putzing around the yard”.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley; his children, Kip (Kathleen) Albers of Ga., Geri Ann (Richard) Strigel and Timothy Albers of Wisc.; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister, Jeanna (James) Schafer of TX.

Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter, Jolene (Bernard) Knox; parents; sisters, Arlene (Robert) Winkler and Durene (Kerry Patrick “Pat”) Rounds; and brothers, Robert (Christine), Floyd (Carol), and Donovan Albers.
